Part
Breakdowns
We
offer parts breakdowns for many Makita tools. These breakdowns are
online as Adobe Acrobat files (PDFs). Adobe Acrobat Reader
must be loaded on your system in order to view these files. Acrobat
Reader is a free download from Adobe Corporation - click the icon
at left to visit Adobe's Acrobat download page. You'll find full instructions
for downloading and installing the latest version of Acrobat Reader,
which is available for PC, Mac and Unix-based computers.
Once you have successfully installed Acrobat Reader, type in the
model number of the tool, like at right (DEMO), and click Search.
TIP
#1: You can type just the first two letters or numbers to see
a list of "closest match" tools.
TIP #2: If you leave the search field blank and click search,
a page will display containing a list of all available files.
Click on a filename to download - Acrobat should launch automatically.
If, instead, you get a dialog box asking where you'd like to save
the file, don't panic; put the file in a temporary directory or on
your desktop. You should then be able to view it by double-clicking.
NOTE: Some users have reported problems
with the search function when used with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
We've addressed that issue and it should be resolved, but let
us know if you still encounter difficulty.
Please note that we do not have part breakdowns for ALL Makita tools
- many have been discontinued or been renumbered. Try searching for
the tool number in our regular search page. If you cannot find what
you're looking for, send us email and we'll help as best we can. TOP
Online
Ordering
To
order, items must first be put into a shopping cart. You may add items
to the shopping cart from any section of the catalog by entering a
quantity in the box to the right of the item and then clicking on
"add to cart" at the bottom of each catalog or search page. You can
view what is in your cart at any time by clicking "view/modify
cart"at the bottom of the page. You may also remove items from your
cart, modify how many you'd like to order, and precalculate shipping
costs to your zipcode. NOTE: Once you leave the catalog, your shopping
cart is reset. To Checkout, select the
Checkout button. You may submit your order one of two ways - by generating
a printable order form, which you would then print out, write in your
credit card info, and fax or regular mail to us; or by using our secure
online ordering system. (Visit our Ordering
Info page for info on security.) Clicking the reset button clears
your selections on that page, but does not affect your cart.
Help and troubleshooting:
- shipping says $CALL - if, after entering your zipcode or
shipping information, the shipping cost field says $CALL
instead of a dollar amount, it means that either your zipcode was
not recognized, or that it falls outside the UPS Ground shipping
zones (Hawaii, Alaska, or other US holdings outside the continental
US). Try re-entering, or phone in your order.
- CC# denied - if you get this error message, it indicates that
your Credit Card number has invalid characters, is an invalid length,
or has transposed digits. Please try re-entering the number or try
a different card.
- Browser says "unknown SSL certificate" - This means
your browser needs an updated CA (Certificate Authority) installed.
It is a free update, takes about 2 minutes. Please go to: Thawte
SSL

Searching
There are two ways to search for tools, parts and accessories on
our site:
- Search by part number - you can enter multiple part numbers, as
shown at right (just a DEMO), to generate a list of parts and prices.
- Search by description - type in a search string like battery
chargers, heavy duty saws, hypoid saws, drill bits, etc. Type
in a part number to get prices. Type in a tool number to get a list
of all replacement parts and accessories available for that model.

Site
Navigation
Within
the online catalog, you can use the drop down scroll menu to view
different tool catagories of the online
catalog. The top of each page has text links, plus the words on the
header image are clickable. To view enlarged
color images of tools, click the tool or the line beneath it reading
"Click to enlarge." If you have trouble finding your way
around you may also use our clickable Sitemap
- but please take a moment to send
us email to let us know how we might improve site navigation,
or just tell us what you had trouble with. We want to make your visit
to makita-direct.com convenient and trouble-free! TOP
